Another direction I'm exploring: what if you could describe the surface you want and have AI generate it for you? You'd type something like "weathered concrete with moss" or "scratched carbon fiber" and get a result back. You could also provide a reference image and have the AI create a seamless, tileable texture based on it. Less predictable than a procedural approach, but potentially way more versatile, especially for organic or hard-to-define materials. Since this relies on external AI models, there's a real cost per generation on my end. So this one would likely live behind a subscription with a credits system. Still figuring out the details on that. If this sounds useful, vote it up. I'm curious whether you'd prefer this over a procedural approach, or want both.
Right now you need to bring your own images into PBR Forge. What if you could generate surfaces directly in the app instead? I'm thinking of building a procedural generator that creates surfaces like wood grain, brushed metal, stone, fabric, and more. You'd get sliders and controls to tweak things like grain density, scale, and randomness until the output looks right. Since everything runs locally, this would be a free feature available to everyone. Would love to hear which surface types you'd want most.
